Obituary Notice- Kenneth P. Bremer

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Dunkirk:  Kenneth P. Bremer, 86, a resident of Absolut at Dunkirk, formerly of Fredonia, died Thursday, April 4th, at his residence.  He was born in Dunkirk on December 23, 1926, the son of the late Edward and Ilona (Hartman) Bremer.

The after effects of a childhood disease left Kenny mildly disabled, in spite of his parent’s relentless efforts to correct it.  He had some schooling as a boy, but was then, mostly living at home with his parents as a gentle and loving son until they died.  He then lived by himself in the family home in Fredonia, while his brother Roger tried taking care of him long distance, while living in New Jersey.  This was not easy, and fortunately the St. Vincent Home had an opening for him.  The transition was hard, because Kenny did not want to leave home.  However, with the gracious care of Sister Catherine and the patience of a wonderful staff, he eventually adjusted to his new surroundings.  As he got older, he was transferred to the former Waters of Dunkirk, now Absolut at Dunkirk, and was again blessed with a wonderful home.  Kenny would want everyone to know how well he was treated and taken care of at St. Vincent’s, the former Waters of Dunkirk and now in his last days on this earth by a lovingly warm and caring staff at Absolut at Dunkirk.  They had become his family.  Heartfelt thanks go out to all of these wonderful people, also Brooks Memorial Hospital and a special Thank You to Mr. Harold Zell of Fredonia who was always ready throughout the many years to extend a helping hand when needed.

Surviving is his sister-in-law Lina Reil of Ft. Pierce, FL, who continued to keep in caring contact with Kenny, after his brother’s death.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by his only sibling, his older brother Roger Bremer, who died in Florida, on February 24, 2010.

There will be no visitation observed.  A Catholic Graveside Service will be held at the Bremer Family plot in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fredonia on Monday morning, April 22, 2013 at 10 o’clock, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church, Silver Creek, officiating.

Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.  To post condolences go to www.rilesandwoolleyfuneralhome.com.

He was a wonderful cousin and was very kind & gentle. I enjoyed visiting him and his Lionel Trains, when he lived on Lowell Place in Fredonia.
    Your cousin, Peggy
