Obituary Notice – Robert L. Yager

SILVER CREEK:  Robert L. Yager, 83, of Andrus Circle, Silver Creek, formerly of Eden & South Dayton, died Friday, April 28th, 2023 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, following a short illness.  He was born in Springville on June 22, 1939, the son of the late Kenneth and Muriel (Hand) Yager.

  Robert was a graduate of Eden Central School, Class of 1954 and worked in Maintenance at University of Buffalo, South Campus, Buffalo, for 25 years.  He also delivered milk for his father’s dairy (the former Ken’s Dairy) in Eden and was a driver for Carrier Coach in Gowanda.  Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and his dogs.  Dogs were always a large part of his life.

  Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Patricia B. (Austin) Yager of Silver Creek, whom he married on July 1, 1967, in Fredonia, four daughters, Dawn (Robert) Fralick, of London, OH; Brenda Vaughn, of Getzville; Bonnie Olson and Alyce Fancher, both of Silver Creek; three sons Ron (Judy Kaletta) Austin, of Forestville; Brent Yager, of Nashua, NH; Matt (Kim) Austin, of Bristol, TN; three sisters, Audrey (Phil) Martino, of Florida; Debby Yager, of Lockport; Cindy (Phillip) DesRosiers, of West Seneca; two brothers, Duane (Leslie) Yager, of DeSoto, TX; and Lynn (Marilyn) Yager, of Eden.  Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Joanne Yager.

  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

    Grandpa will be greatly missed. He was an amazing man and I will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His sense of humor was strong through the very end, he always brought a smile to my face. I love you so much grandpa and will miss you forever.

    Pat & Brenda,Aylce,Brent,Bonnie and family I am truly sorry for your loss! Bob was a great guy and I always enjoyed being around him!

    I miss you so Dad! My heart is broken right now! Please fly high over me and never let go of my hand.
    A day never went by, that I wasn´t proud to call you my Dad!
    My favorite memories are of the long days we spent together fishing in your boat, Chatauqua Lake, Kinzu, Black Lake, Thousand Islands! long nights around a fire, snowmobile trips, Coon hunting, spear fishing, helping you wash detail your car (while you directed ), helping you around your home, and caring for you!
    I love you Dad!
