Obituary Notice – Charles A. Meadows

FORESTVILLE:  Charles A. Meadows, 69, of Eagle Street, Forestville, died Saturday, January 21st, 2023 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, following a short illness.  He was born in Dunkirk on November 6, 1953, the son of Maureen “Molly” E. (Harrington) Meadows, of Forestville and the late Walter “Corky” Meadows.

  Mr. Meadows was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1972, received his Bachelor’s in Fire Science Administration from the University of Maryland & his Masters in Public Service Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.  He also received additional instruction in Advanced Fire Service from Texas A&M.

  Mr. Meadows served in the U.S. Air Force as a MSGT in the Vietnam War & Persian Gulf. He served as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War, was a Pararescue Man assigned to the 40th & 56th ARRS, with Company A 127th Armor & retired as Master Sergeant from the 107th Air Refueling Wing- mobilized for Operations desert Shield/Storm.  He worked as a Firefighter at Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station Niagara Falls, NY, for 25 years retiring in March 2008, as a civilian part of the Retired Department of Defense, retaining rank of Captain and in the summer of 1999, he provided assistance to the Criminal Investigation Division-Law Enforcement Response Department of Treasury, Internal Revenue Service.

  Mr. Meadows was a life member with the United States Air Force Sergeant Association, Chapter 0717, J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville, Sheridan VFW Memorial Post #6390 and the Forestville Fire Department.  He was an avid hunter & fisherman and was a beloved uncle.

  Surviving besides his mother are two sisters, Debra Ann (Larry) Kordosky, of Hereford, AZ; Lisa M. (Frank) Fulop, of Port Burwell, Ontario Canada; two brothers, William J. (Jane) Meadows, of Forestville; and Michael K. (Shelly) Meadows, of Zebulon, NC.  He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.  Besides his father he was predeceased by a daughter Kristina Rose Feane, who died May 3, 2012.

  Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday from 4-9 PM, from where Prayers Services will be held Saturday morning, January 28th at 9:30 am followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock from Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Center Street, Forestville, with Rev. Daniel F. Fiebelkorn, pastor officiating and Rev. Bruce Ellis, pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.

  A Fireman’s Service will be held Friday at 7 pm in the Funeral Home. Graveside Military Services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville and the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Base.
