LatshawTSOUTH DAYTON:  Theresa M. Latshaw, 88, of Pine Street, South Dayton, entered heaven Wednesday, March 18th, 2015 at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk.  She was born in Kane, PA on July 18, 1926, the daughter of the late James and Mary (Damart) Batista.

She worked as a Custodian at Pine Valley Central School, South Dayton, for 11 years, previously she was manager of the former South Dayton Market Basket and also the former Don Campbell’s Super Duper in Cattaraugus.  She was a member of the Red Hats Society, past member of the former St. John Fisher RC Church, South Dayton-where she was a Eucharistic Minister & a member of the Altar Rosary Society, a member of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Gowanda, Pioneer Social Club, Forestville and Home Bureau.  Mrs. Latshaw enjoyed quilting, ceramics and reading.  She touched the hearts of many lives with her fun loving attitude, generosity and kindness.

Survivors include three sons Richard (Jane) Latshaw, of South Dayton, Kenneth (Christine) Latshaw, of Cherry Creek, John (Jacqueline) Latshaw, of South Dayton, a daughter, Diane (Douglas) MacDonald, of Fiddletown, CA and a sister, Rosemary Fedele, of Horseheads, NY.  Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, extended family members Roxanne Overturff & Doug Rioth and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Kenneth W. Latshaw, whom she married October 12, 1946 in Kane, PA and who died December 29, 1987, son William W. Latshaw who died May 14, 1991, a great granddaughter Hope Krenzer, 3 brothers Joseph, Pat & Richard Batista and 2 sisters Elizabeth Micelli and Millie Labela.  There will be no visitation observed.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s RC Church, 26 Erie Avenue, Gowanda, on Saturday morning April 11, 2015 at 10 o’clock, with Rev. Joseph D. Porpiglia officiating.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Villenova Cemetery.

    Dick, Jane and entire Latshaw family, so sorry to hear of Theresa’s passing, she will always hold a special place in the hearts of so many, especially all the kids she touched at school. You are in my thoughts and prayers, the McPeeck family also.
