NewtonEGOWANDA:  Edgar L. Newton, 89, a resident of Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, died Wednesday, October 29th, 2014 at his residence.  He was born in Quaker Bridge, NY on May 12, 1925, the son of the late Clarence and Edna (Reed) Newton.  Mr. Newton served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 2nd Class in WW II and received the American Theater Medal and WWII Victory Medal.

He started working with the former MRC Bearing, then the former TRW Bearing and retired from the former SKF Bearing in Falconer as a Quality Inspector in 1987.  Mr. Newton enjoyed reading.

Survivors include his wife Althea M. (Harvey) Newton, of Gowanda Nursing Home, whom he married on November 24, 1949, in Randolph, two sons Russell (Susan) Newton and Bryan Newton, both of Forestville and a sister, Carrie Wilkes, of Limestone, NY.  Also surviving is 1 granddaughter Chelsea Newton and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother Clayton Newton and by a sister Laura Hannah.

There will be no visitation observed and Private Services will be at the convenience of family.  Arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.  To post condolences go to
