TaylorWFORESTVILLE:  Wayne G. Taylor, 80, of Forestville, died Sunday, May 25th, 2014 at his residence, following an extended illness.  He was born in Smith Mills, on September 19, 1933, the son of the late Edward and Marion (Rater) Taylor.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt. in the Korean War.  Mr. Taylor worked as a Bus Driver for Silver Creek Central School, from 1968-2008.  He also previously worked as a mechanic for the former Allegany-Ludlum Steel, Corporation in Dunkirk and was the owner of the former Vet’s in Hanover Taxi.  Mr. Taylor was a member of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville, long time member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and a member of Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills.  He enjoyed model airplanes, motorcycles, birds & rabbits.

Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Gage, of Forestville, Shari (Michael) Miller, of Dunkirk, a son, Robert Taylor, of Fredonia, two brothers, Bill (Shirley E.) Taylor, Warren (Karen) Taylor, two sister-in-laws Shirley Taylor & Norma Taylor, loving companion Noreen Stachowiak and an aunt Elsie Baker.  Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by 2 brothers Marshall & Richard Taylor, an infant sister Kay Elaine Taylor and by a son-in-law Darryl Gage.

There will be no visitation observed.  Memorial Services will be held Saturday morning, June 14th, at 11 o’clock from Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills, with Rev. Michael Pollock pastor officiating.  Private Interment will be in Smith Mills Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.

The family suggests memorial donations may be made either to the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc., 1501 NW 9th Avenue, Bob Hope Road, Miami, FL 33136-1494 or to HOSPICE Chautauqua County, Inc., 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to Sheridan Fire Dept.
