CrowellASOUTH DAYTON:  Alan R. Crowell, 69, of Bartlett Hill Road, South Dayton, passed away Monday, August 10th 2020, at his daughter’s residence in Forestville, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Silver Creek, on October 23, 1950, the son of Marilyn “Mickey” (Valentine) Crowell, of South Dayton and the late Richard Crowell.

Alan was a graduate of Forestville Central School, Class of 1969.  He served in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1973 and was aboard the USS Forrestal.  Alan worked for the former Great Lakes Printing in Dunkirk for approximately 20 years and as a Technical Sales Representative for McDermitt Printing in Colorado, retiring in 2009. He was a member and past master of Hanover Lodge #152 F&AM, Forestville and in 1994 was the youngest Grand Master in New York State and was a past member of the former Frank Acquavia Memorial Post #1344 American Legion, Dunkirk.

Alan loved to write music, sing & play guitar.  Many friends and family enjoyed his musical talents through the years. Alan also liked to fish, ride motorcycle, cook and work with wood.  He loved a good time, a funny joke and his word puzzles.  It was a life well lived and we are grateful to have shared this journey with him.

Survivors include three daughters, Robin Zeman, of Hampton, VA; Tessa Zemgulys, of Chicago, IL; Kayme (Henry) Gianatasio, of Chicago, IL; a son, Jeffrey (Moriah) Keddie, of Fredonia; and a sister, Linda (Sherman Bailey) Hall, of Fredonia.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one niece & one nephew.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday afternoon October 24th, 2020 from the Waterman Farm, 308 Rt. 39, Forestville at 4 o’clock, with Rev. Andrew Hall, nephew of the deceased officiating.   A Masonic Service will be conducted by members of the Hanover Masonic Lodge #152 F&AM, Forestville and a Military Service will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.  Private interment will be in the Ball Hill Cemetery, Town of Villenova.  The family suggests memorials may be made either to Forestville Fire Dept. Emergency & Rescue Squad, PO Box 299, Forestville, NY 14062 or Forestville Wesleyan Church, 9495 Prospect Road, Forestville, NY 14062.
