Obituary Notice – Walter Michael Panek

PanekWCHERRY CREEK:  Walter Michael Panek, 76, of South Road, Rt. 83, Cherry Creek, died Friday, August 21st, 2020 at UPMC Hamot, following a short illness.  He was born in Silver Creek, on February 19, 1944, the son of the late Michael and Lillian (Gawronski) Panek.

Walt worked as an Equipment Operator for H. Olsen & Sons Contractors, Inc. Forestville, for 55 years.  He was a member of the NRA, was generous and kind hearted, enjoyed helping people and loved animals.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberley A. (Kenneth) Cowen, of Littleton, NC; Kelley (Daniel) Ivett, of South Dayton; three sisters, Rose Hafner, Nancy (Stan Jopek) Panek, Rita Lathrop and a brother, Donald Panek.  Also surviving are his Fiance- Mary Ellis Kline of Forestville, four grandchildren Kristopher (Monica) Cowen, Kyle (Emma Kunkle) Cowen, Garrett (Sarah) Ivett, Grant (Allison Verstraete) Ivett, four great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Theresa Schmidt and a brother Richard Panek.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Monday from 4-7 PM from where Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock, with Rev. Brad Ringer, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.  Due to COVID restrictions, masks are required and we are limited to 33% capacity (approximately 53 people in the funeral home at a time)

    Our deepest condolences and sympathies to all the family and friends of Uncle Walt’s. He was an amazing person and always found a way to make us laugh. We will miss him very much but we know he is watching over all of us.

    I cant begin to explain the memories because there are too many to name. Like the paper airplanes and nicknames, birthday parties and family get togethers. I miss you and i love you forever Uncle Wally
