BrennanMSILVER CREEK:  Mary Jane Brennan, of Versailles Road, Silver Creek, died Tuesday, July 14th, 2020 at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Dunkirk, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Buffalo, on March 14, 1926, the daughter of the late Edwin Leopold and Mary Elizabeth (Fulcher) Winstel.  She graduated from high school and attended Business College in Buffalo.

On a vacation weekend to Sunset Bay, Mary and her girlfriends flagged down an Army Private and that led to a long distance romance with Chuck Brennan.  They were married on April 6, 1946 in Silver Creek.  During her life, she was a member of the Business and Professional Women (BPW), Home Bureau, and various Methodist Women’s organizations.

Mary worked on the farm and raised one daughter and four sons.  Most of all she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Mary loved cooking and baking for her family and friends.  She was kind compassionate and loyal.  Her children and family will miss her sharp wit, but most of all her unconditional love.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to all that cared for our mother with kindness, patience and loving care at the Chautauqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and a most special thank you to HOSPICE for their loving care given to our family and our mother.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Robert) Halenkamp, of Sachse, TX; four sons Paul (Pia Doro) Brennan, of Angola; Stephen (Lisa) Brennan, of Silver Creek; Richard (Nita) Brennan, of Silver Creek; David (Kim) Brennan, of Cuero, TX; and a brother, Edwin (Betty) Winstel, of Canton, Michigan. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Charles Walter Brennan, who died December 26, 2019.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday afternoon from 1-3 PM, where Funeral Services will be held at 3 o’clock with Rev. Thomas Pollock and Rev. Michael Pollock, of Gage Chapel Community Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, Town of Hanover.

    Linda and family
There are many trite comments that always roll through my head when considering what to post on these legacy sites. We have all said and heard them at these times. None suffice, remembering that simpler time decades ago, I do believe I recall your folks knew the Lord Jesus Christ. I will look forward someday to asking them to fill me in on the 55 years since I last saw them! John 16:22 Much love, marty link
