PLEASE NOTE CHANGES TO THE FUNERAL SERVICE DUE TO NEW MANDATES BY THE CDC & NYS AS OF 4:30PM MONDAY EVENING.  THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL NOW BE PRIVATE, DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ALLOW MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE IN THE FUNERAL HOME AT ONE TIME.  PLEASE ALSO CONSIDER THIS WHILE ATTENDING VISITING HOURS.

MeierCIRVING:  Charles J. Meier, 78, of Versailles Road, Irving, died Saturday, March 14th, 2020 at his residence, following some health issues.  He was born in Colden, NY on November 2, 1941, the son of the late Clarence and Marian (Barkewitz) Meier.

He served in the U.S. Air Force as an Airman 3rd Class during the Vietnam War.  Mr. Meier was a truck driver for 50 years, including the former Ohio Fast Freight and the former Detroit Pittsburgh Motor Freight, Detroit, MI.  He loved farming, enjoyed camping and getting together with family.

Survivors include his wife Frances E. (Blackowski) Meier of Irving, whom he married on September 12, 1970, in Brant, a daughter, Tania (Peter) Smith, of Forestville; three sisters, Pat (Ron) Kobel, of Farnham; Barb Mumford, of Clearfield, PA; Sandra Morris, of Silver Creek; two brothers, Jim (Liz) Meier, of Rochester; David (Donna) Meier, of Morgantown, KY, two grandchildren Peter (Precious) Smith and Buck Smith both of Forestville and was the proud great grandfather of Peter Jacob Smith. Also surviving are special friends Joan Weston and family.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Cheryl Meier.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM from where PRIVATE Funeral Services will be held Friday morning, with Rev. Bruce M. Ellis, pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating.  Military services will be conducted by members of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville.

The family suggests memorials may be made either to Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 or to the Forestville Wesleyan Church, 9495 Prospect Road, Forestville, NY 14062.

    We are deeply saddened to hear of Chuck’s passing.Our sincere condolences to Fran and Tania and family. We will always remember Chuck and the many memories created at Arkwright Camp. In deepest sympathy Pat and Sue Smith
