RichterHFORESTVILLE:  Harold R. Richter, Jr., 80, of Hurlbert Road, Forestville, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 26th, 2018, at TLC/HN-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving.  He was born in the Town of Sheridan, on October 30, 1937, the son of the late Harold R. and Clara (Kugler) Richter, Sr.

Mr. Richter attended Forestville Central School, worked for the former Moench Tanning Factory in Gowanda and operated a farm for many years.  He also worked for the former Village of Forestville for 34 years, retiring as Streets & Water Superintendent.  Mr. Richter enjoyed collecting magazines, Hoard’s Dairyman, Successful Farming and Country Living.  He also enjoyed attending Music in the Park in South Dayton, sharing local history with people about Forestville and the Town of Sheridan and was an avid bowler for many years.

Survivors include his wife Norley (Matter) Richter, of Forestville, whom he married December 15, 1961, in Erie, PA, five daughters, Denise Olsen, Tammy (Garry) Olsen, Jr., Vickie (Chris Pope) Pfleuger, all of Forestville; Stacey (Chris) Kulpa, of Cassadaga; Kristy Butcher, of Brocton; two sons Robert (Shirley Pogue) Richter, of Ripley; Randy (Kris) Richter, of Forestville; and a sister, Margaret Richter, of Silver Creek.  Also surviving are a sister-in-law Rose Masi of Silver Creek, 21 grandchildren Vinnie & Tony Richter, Rebecca DeGolier, Tanya Jo, Aaron, Melissa, Kirstain, & Joshua Richter, Leon Lidlow, Amber & Alicia Greene, Taylor, Courtney & Chelsea Richter, Tristian Olsen, Nicole Parsell, Jessica Pfleuger, Hayden Pope, Stacey Lee Butcher, Christian & Katelyn Barone and several nieces & nephews.  Besides his parents he was predeceased by a son Harold “Butch” Richter III, who died March 23, 2011 and a daughter Cheryl (Richter) Lidlow, who died August 16, 2015.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, from where a Catholic Burial Service will be conducted Monday morning at 11 o’clock, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn, pastor of Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.
